In keeping with its mission to rebuild lives, Voice of Calvary Ministries (VOCM) is developing an educational program to bring 21st Century learning to west Jackson. VOCM started to convene community stakeholders in March 2017 to discuss and plan how we can bring STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) to west Jackson to bridge educational and wealth gaps through enhanced learning.
The STEAM Collaborative, most often referred to as the “STEAM Team”, sponsored a Thinkers’ Fair for the community on August 10, 2017. The event was held at the Jackson Medical Mall here in Jackson. There were nearly 300 children and adults in attendance and they experienced hands on demonstrations of what STEAM education involves.
