Turning Point Housing

Through a partnership with HUD, VOCM is able to assist individuals who are aging out of Foster Care. We work with them to attain stable housing, life skills training, job skills and other social services they need. We strive to equip and encourage them so that they will attain self-sufficiency and not resort to negative behaviors and influences.

Turning Point assists young people exiting out of the Mississippi Foster Care System with:

  • Obtaining stable housing
  • Rental Assistance for at least 12 months
  • Utilities Deposits
  • Support Services (e.g., job skills, education, transportation, child care, etc.)
  • Intensive Case Management and other social services they need.

The Turning Point Housing Program receives referrals from the MS Department of Child Protection Services. For more information, please contact Barbara Thornton at (601) 969-3088 or at barbarathornton@vocm.org.
