A Reflection from Phil Reed

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – … Ephesians 4: 3-4

One of the emphases that Voice of Calvary Ministries (VOCM) has had since we were founded over forty years ago is a commitment to racial reconciliation.  We have always understood that unity is not something that we have to manufacture.  God has given us unity as a gift of the Spirit, we just have to work to live it out and not destroy it.  This is central to the hope of the Gospel.

Given the growing divisions in our nation, I believe the message of the unity in Christ we already possess is more needed than ever.  Recently, we received a donation from a young lady who included this note with her gift:

“I am still grateful for the anti-racism training I received when I was 18 years old on a spring break trip visiting VOC with UVA. It profoundly and forever changed my life.

I am so thankful that God has been pleased to use VOCM to bring this message of hope to those who visit with us.
