From the Desk of Phil Reed:
In April of 2019, I turned 70 years old and made a personal decision to step down as President/CEO. I have called my transition at VOCM a “reprioritizing” not a retirement because I don’t think retirement is a Biblical concept.
I first came to Voice of Calvary in September of 1975 to do a four-month internship. It is hard to believe that short term commitment has turned into a forty-four year partnership with a wonderful group of people committed to living out the words of Jesus in Luke 4:18: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has appointed me to preach good news to the poor.
Since 1975, Voice of Calvary Ministries (VOCM) has been able to accomplish some amazing things, that include having provided affordable housing; provided Homebuyer Education and Credit Counseling; sponsored after school and summer programs for youth; and provided stable housing services to over 2000 households that include 1500 veterans. Lastly, making service opportunities available to thousands of volunteers.
Margaret Johnson has accepted the position of Voice of Calvary Ministries’ new President/CEO. Margaret has served as Vice President/COO for the past several years, and she is committed to the vision, mission and values of VOCM. I know that Margaret, in partnership with VOCM’s committed staff members Sheron Brown-Gorden, Barbara Thornton, Kim Brewer, and Mike and Joan Cohen will take VOCM to new levels of service.
It is my sincere hope and prayer that all of our faithful donors, volunteers, and other partners will likewise continue to support the Christ centered work God has yet for VOCM to do.
