Happenings at Claiborne Park

In 2007, VOCM took over the lease on a sixteen acre piece of land on Claiborne Avenue, between Provine High School and the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church.   Spurred by a grant received from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, we were able to clean up the park and put in a walking trail.  What had once been literally a neighborhood dumping site has been transformed into Claiborned Park, a family friendly destination spot that is now used by adults and youth as they walk around the trail, or just sit in the shade of the old trees on one of the park  benches.

A comment we hear frequently by visitors is:  “I never knew this park was here.”  We are committed to getting the word out about this beautiful spot in the middle of west Jackson.

We hope you will drop in for a visit.
