Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts, Whose name is the LORD, and exult before Him. A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God in His holy habitation. God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
(Psalm 68:4-6, NASB)
As of 2018, I am going into my 43rd year of ministry at Voice of Calvary in west Jackson. I am so grateful for the new life God has given to me through Jesus Christ. I am overwhelmed with the goodness He has shown to me through my wonderful wife Marcia, my family, and the amazing friends I have here and across the country.
I am especially thankful for the work that I get to do every day for Him as well. After four decades, I am still excited about the opportunities He gives to VOCM. In particular, I am thankful for two initiatives related to the words from Psalms 68 quoted above.
- We will be implementing an educational initiative for our west Jackson children called West Jackson: Changing the Narrative! We will bring the best programming for education available anywhere to children who are used to being left out. He is showing that He is a Father to the fatherless.
- We are working with other organizations to develop a program to get our chronically homeless brothers and sisters into stable housing. What an opportunity to cooperate with God in making a home for the lonely.
None of this would be possible without our good friends like you. Thank you for your prayers and support!
